Apple Pancakes with Topping


Everyone needs an excellent pancake recipe in their back pocket. Though it is one of the most basic and simple foods to prepare, very good pancakes are hard to come by. Try this one out.

Batter Ingredients:

  • 2 Cups pancake mix
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 cup grated apple
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon


Mix all ingredients together. Cook on hot griddle until bubbles form. Turn and cook other side until golden brown. Serve hot with butter and syrup or with hot apple topping (see below)


Hot Apple Topping:

  • 3 apples cored, peeled and chopped
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • Dash of nutmeg


In small Dutch oven over medium heat, fry apples in melted butter for 5 minutes. Add rest of ingredients and cook until apples are tender and liquid is thickened. If needed thicken with water and cornstarch.
