09/02/2010 - Playing Catch Up
Hi Guys,
I'm so behind on my cooking site. I'll try to catch you up to date. The year is flying by so I hope you're enjoying what's left of your summer.
Our trip to California was really fun. Doug Hart and Sport Chalet was our host. We cooked most of the day and made some new D.O. friends. I had to call Doug six times just to find the store, but he made sure I won't get lost again. He presented me with my very own GPS system. Cool guy Huh!! Guess he got tired of my phone calls.
The 4th of July celebration in Oregon was awesome. We enjoyed three days with over 200 people per day for three meals. Piece of cake Huh! Actually, it took a lot of cake. Great celebration with fireworks, boat races, best camp site prizes, a rodeo and much more.
The DOG at General Army in Salt Lake City, UT was a great turn out. Lots of Dutch oven dishes and the BBQ Association showed up to make it better. So much foot and not enough stomachs to use it.
The D.O. contest in LoLo MT was really fun. The contestants had a great time and the presentations were wonderful. I will be posting some of the recipes soon for your tasting enjoyment. Bill Wright did a great job of running it.
Guy from Camp Chef took me to Jackson Wyoming to help with a trade show. I helped talk, eat the pork loin, give away prizes, drink the coffee and laughed so hard at the Bar-J-Wranglers that my sides hurt. I had a wonderful time.
My trip to the north end of Yellowstone to help work on the restoration of the "Old 1st registered dude ranch" in Montana was very rewarding. The new District Ranger, Mary Major, met with us and vowed to help us get it restored for the public's enjoyment. It is a real pleasure to be involved in this part of history. The ranch needs some TLC and hopefully to fields camp can make that happen.
We've held several classes and dinners and met a lot of new people. If you are one of these folks and read this, "Thanks for your friendship." Don't forget to wait for the smell and follow your nose to the best food ever. Email me with your recipes, suggestions and ideas. I'd love to hear from you.
Hugs to All,
