Awesome Review by Justin All my reviews  (1)
First off shipping was really fast and FREE! Very easy to put together, maybe took half hour by myself. Fired it up per the instructions, got up to heat quickly. I have smoked ribs and a pork shoulder and cooked a pizza on it so far, both were excellent. I have smoked with charcoal and gas units and this pellet grill just makes it so much easier.

The pulled pork I smoked recently I did overnight. It got down to around 30 degrees outside but the pellet grill kept it's temp with no problems. The ash clean out is awesome. I would recommend covering the inside with foil for easy cleanup. I would highly recommend this unit. It also came with a free cover which was a big plus for me. Happy smoking! (Posted on 11/17/15)

Pros: Couldn't be better, Great temperature control, Easy to Use, Easy To Set Up, Easy to Install
Cons: Can't say anything bad

Awesome smoker with unmatched features for the price Review by Vince All my reviews  (1)
Let me start by saying that outdoorcooking.com and Camp Chef support staff have been great throughout the purchase process. After much research, and wanting to find a smoker that maintained a relatively constant temperature throughout the smoking process with as little hassle as possible, I settled on this smoker as a supplement to my built-in gas grill.

The smoker arrived in perfect physical condition from FedEx (no dents). Assembly was very simple - I did it alone - and involved (i) attaching the legs, the smoke stack, the cover handle, and the side shelf., and (ii) inserting the deflector, drip tray, and grill grates. The unit is quite heavy, and each leg is held by two screws - I would like to have seen the legs butt up against the bottom of the barrel for more direct support, but it appears that the entire weight is held by the screws. Let's hope they have high shear strength! I also would like to have seen four wheels instead of two to cut down on the stress placed on the back two legs when the unit is lifted for rolling.

Two hiccups as I attempted to conduct the initial burn. First, the unit did not turn on. Camp Chef advised that shipping sometimes loosens connections on the control panel. After removing the bottom panel of the hopper unit (4 Philips head screws), and reconnecting one of the clips on the control panel, it turned on with no problems. If you have to do this, please make sure the unit is UNPLUGGED.

Second, when I attempted to start it up, the igniter rod did not heat up. I again removed the bottom panel to the hopper, and checked all the clips on the control panel. In addition to these connections, there are three sets of wires with clear plastic connectors labeled A, B, and C. One of the inputs into the plastic connectors had come loose. Once I plugged that back in, it all worked fine.

With the minor startup issues behind me, I proceeded to do the test burn (30 minutes) to clean out the unit. It produced copious amounts of smoke as it got up to temperature, and then the smoke settled down to lighter levels.

For my first try, I smoked baby back ribs on the high smoke (220 degrees) setting for six hours using Mesquite pellets. The temperature fluctuated +/- 12 degrees throughout this time, and I occasionally checked the hopper to make sure I did not run out of pellets.. I filled the hopper only to the honeycomb screen at the beginning, and had pellets left over after six hours. The ribs had a real nice smoke to them. The next day I smoked chicken thighs at the same temperature setting for two hours, and used the internal thermometer. Loved the ease of checking the internal temp by a simple push of a button.

To help with cleanup on both occasions, I had covered the drip tray and the grate with foil (cutting slits in the foil on the grate to allow the smoke through). With this protection, cleanup was simple - empty the grease bucket, empty the ashes (awesome design not found on other smokers), and toss the foil. Next time I will add a dish of water to the back of the grill to provide some moisture.

This smoker works exceptionally well and has thoughtful design features. The grill surface is quite large and can accommodate a good amount of food. The ashes fly around a bit in the bottom of the barrel due to the fan, but I did not notice any ashes on the food. I enthusiastically recommend this smoker. (Posted on 10/19/15)

the only way to smoke. Review by Allan All my reviews  (1)
I've been smoking different meats and poultry for almost 40 years with all manner of contraptions and this smoker is great. I made a slab of baby back ribs yesterday and all I did was season the ribs with magic dust , placed the meat in my new smoker and 4 hrs later I opened the lid and they had a fantastic bark and they were delicious. My search for great BBQ is over. I could on and on ,but, the bottom line is, this smoker is a genuine STEAL! (Posted on 8/20/15)

A Really Good Deal Review by Carl All my reviews  (1)
The shipping on this unit was great first the price was excellent, it was free. I assembled the unit upon arrival and did the burn in according to the instructions , everything worked flawlessly. Today I did my first smoke on it and it worked just great, I did a meatloaf and it was good eating nice and moist. This unit has so many quality features on it, from the electronic controls which are very accurate, clean out ash that all you do is pull a lever, a handle you pull to empty the hopper to change the kind you use, a meat probe, warming rack and many more. I don't think there is a better deal, oh yes a free cover for the smoker. I am looking forward to using this many many years. (Posted on 8/18/15)
