Our Memorial Day Weekend Excitement

We started off the weekend with blue skies….OK, partly blue skies, but nevertheless, we were all so EXCITED to be up in the mountains for our first big camping trip of the year.{C}{C}{C}{C}{C} We had the best camping spot on the mountain, in my opinion.  We were on top of a ridge that looked out into more mountains, topped with fresh green pines.  The sun glistened off the stream below, caused by all the mountain snow run off.  It was beautiful.

The first night we hadn’t gathered any fire wood, so we used the Redwood Portable Propane Fire Pit (GCLOGD) which was really nice, but I think it saved us on day three when it rained & we were under the awning, but still warm by the nice fire.  We had all four seasons in one weekend; sun, rain, wind, & we even woke up to 3 inches of snow on Monday morning, but that didn’t stop us from having fun.  We’re die hards.

My friends brought their Camp Chef stoves, so we had a total of three stoves, two Explorer’s (EX60LW) & our Big Gas Grill (SPG90B).  We were definitely ready for the weekend, to cook us up some yummy grub. As you can see by some of the photos, we enjoy using our Camp Chef stoves & products, & then eating the delicious food.

Day 2 we always start the day off with our big breakfasts that are cooked on the griddles (SG60 & SG90) & in the Lumberjack skillet (SLJ16). Nothing’s better than a breakfast burrito to start your day of fun.  When breakfast was cleaned up, we made sandwiches & all went on a small four-wheeling trip.

On day 3, we always do my famous Chicken Dutch Oven Potatoes for dinner.  We start chopping away at potatoes, carrots, onion & chicken so that it will be easy to throw together in the  12” Dutch Oven (SDO12).  We made enough to feed about 20+ people.  After dinner we all settled down & chatted around the camp fire with full bellies.  Those are the times I love the most.  Everything turned out great!
